Virginia’s Medicaid program, Medallion 3.0, will be replaced by the new Medallion 4.0 plan in phases, beginning August 1. The date that your coverage will change depends on where you live. See the chart below for details. You will receive information from the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) about your continued coverage under Virginia’s new Medicaid program, Medallion 4.0.
Under your current Medallion 3.0 benefits, your baby would have received coverage for their birth month, plus an additional two months. However, we just learned that your baby’s coverage will end on the same day that Medallion 3.0 changes over to Medallion 4.0, and you must apply for benefits for your baby in order to continue coverage.
If your baby is in the birth month-plus-two period on your Medallion 3.0 transition date, you can continue your baby’s benefits by enrolling your baby into Medallion 4.0. You can do this by contacting one of the options below and asking for your baby to be enrolled into Medallion 4.0 with Virginia Premier.
You may also continue your baby’s benefits by calling Cover Virginia Call Center at 1 (855) 242-8282, or by calling your local Department of Social Services, to enroll in Medallion 4.0. For a list of local DSS offices, go to http://dss.virginia.gov/localagency/index.cgi
Virginia Premier wants to make sure your baby remains covered for healthcare benefits during the change of Medallion plans. Our Medical Outreach representatives are in the process of calling members to discuss this important aspect of the transition from the Medallion 3.0 to Medallion 4.0 plans.
If you have any questions about this process or your child’s benefits, please contact our Member Services department by calling <1-800-727-7536, and selecting option 1>.
