When Jasmine Hawkins discovered she was pregnant, she enrolled in the Virginia Premier Healthy Heartbeats™ program. Jasmine worked with a Virginia Premier outreach worker during and after her pregnancy to ensure she had access to the resources and care she needed.
“This program was most helpful,” Jasmine said. “It provided me with information on how to register for WIC, get and use an Aeroflow breast pump, and how to enroll my baby with Cover Virginia after delivery.”
Throughout her pregnancy, she experienced monthly check-ins with her outreach worker and learned about the child safety seat program, social services, and other resources. Her outreach worker also made sure she attended her doctor appointments, took advantage of resources, and invited her to attend Virginia Premier’s virtual baby shower.
On the day of the virtual baby shower, she delivered a healthy baby girl at 11:07 am and was able to join the baby shower at noon.
“I would have been sad if I missed it,” she said. “It was informative, and I was surprised when my name was called for the door prize. I learned a lot about breastfeeding and what to look for with postpartum depression. I highly recommend Virginia Premier’s Healthy Heartbeats program.”
